How to Add a Student to Your Institute Portal in Under 2 Minutes
A step-by-step walkthrough for school admins: create a student profile, assign a plan, and hand over login credentials — no support ticket required.
Who this is for: Institute (school) admins who need to add individual students to their IELTS Pro roster and, optionally, activate a paid plan for them using an issued coupon. The whole process takes under two minutes.
Every institute on IELTS Pro gets a dedicated admin portal for managing their students — no spreadsheets, no email chains. Below is exactly what you'll see on screen for each step, rebuilt from the live portal with sample data so it stays crisp and readable on any device.
Open “My Students” from your school admin sidebar
Sign in to your institute portal and you'll land on your School Admin dashboard. In the left sidebar, click My Students to see everyone currently enrolled through your institute — then hit the + Add Student button in the top-right corner.

Fill in the student's name, email, and a temporary password
The Add Student form only asks for three things: the student's full name, their email address (this becomes their login), and a temporary password of at least 8 characters. You'll share this with the student so they can log in and change it themselves.

Pick a plan and select a coupon to activate it instantly
By default new students land on the Free plan. If you want to give them premium access right away, click Starter, Standard, or Pro — the number in parentheses shows how many unredeemed coupons your institute has for that tier. Choosing a plan reveals a dropdown of your available coupon codes; pick one and it activates the moment you create the account.

Select a coupon to activate the Standard plan immediately.
Create the student and share their credentials
Click Create Student and you're done. The portal confirms the account was created (and the plan activated, if you picked a coupon) and drops the new student straight into your roster — ready to log in with the email and password you set.

That's it. The student now appears in your My Students list with their assigned plan, and they can log in immediately with the email and password you set — no separate invite step required.
A few things worth knowing
- Out of coupons for a plan? The tier button disables itself and shows a note to contact DSM Admin for more — you'll never accidentally oversell a seat you don't have.
- Students created without a coupon default to the Free plan — you can always assign a paid plan to them later from the Coupons page.
- Passwords are never emailed automatically — share the credentials with your student directly and encourage them to change the password after their first login.
